鸽形目 Columbidae 绿鸠属 Treron 鸟类。1789年由德国博物学家Gmelin描述。分布于东喜马拉雅至东南亚地区，包括孟加拉国、不丹、文莱、柬埔寨、香港、印度、印尼、老挝、马来西亚、缅甸、尼泊尔、菲律宾、新加坡、泰国、西藏及越南。栖息于亚热带或热带低地雨林及红树林。以其相对较小的体型和独特的厚嘴而区别于其他绿鸠。
形态特征
体型较小的绿鸠，体长不足26厘米。嘴粗壮呈淡绿色，基部红色。具宽阔的蓝绿色眼圈，头顶灰色，颈部 maroon 色。飞羽黑色，具黄色外缘。全身下方绿色。腿部暗绿色带白色鳞状斑。雌鸟下覆羽绿色带白色斑；雄鸟背部 maroon 色，下覆羽暗栗色。
