山雀科广嘴山雀属鸟类。分布于温带和亚北极欧洲全域及古北界大部分地区，为广泛分布的留鸟。主要栖息于针叶林，是比沼泽山雀更专业的针叶林专家，因此分布更偏北端。不迁徙。IUCN评估为无危。

体长11.5厘米，翼展17-20.5厘米，体重约11克。体型敦实，大头，细喙。具长而暗的黑色顶冠，延伸至背部，喉部有黑色斑块。面部两侧白色，背部灰褐色，下体淡褐色。

与沼泽山雀相似，但顶冠为烟褐色而非蓝黑色；下体更淡褐，侧翼明显更红褐色；次级飞羽的淡褐色边缘在翅闭合时形成浅色斑块。头顶和喉斑羽毛较长，但此特征不易察觉。

分布于温带和亚北极欧洲及古北界。栖息于针叶林及林地，尤其偏好老龄针叶林。为留鸟，无迁徙行为。

以昆虫、毛虫和种子为食。自行在腐烂树桩或枯木中凿洞筑巢，巢材为毛皮、毛发和木屑等制成的绒状物。每窝产6-9枚卵，孵化期13-15天，育雏期17-20天。鸣声为鼻音的'zee, zee, zee'，偶有双音'ipsee'。

IUCN评估为无危。全球分布极广，种群估计1.75-2.53亿只，整体呈缓慢下降趋势。英国种群1995至2017年间减少83%，分布范围收缩。主要威胁包括栖息地丧失、与蓝山雀争夺巢位以及大斑啄木鸭的巢捕食，后者数量在此期间增加了四倍。
