Introduction

A bird species in the white-eye family Zosteropidae. It inhabits subtropical or tropical moist montane forests across the Himalayas and Indochina. It is one of the commonest yuhinas in the Himalayas but relatively uncommon to rare at low elevations, preferring undisturbed closed canopy cover.

Distribution & Habitat

Range extends across Himalayan forests in northern India, northeast Indian states, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and east to Indochina including Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Habitat consists of subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.

Behavior & Ecology

Sometimes found in mixed hunting parties with other yuhina and fulvetta species, though it has been reported not to associate with such groups in some areas. It is hunted by livestock herders in Northeast India.
