Distribution
breeds in the Andes of southern Bolivia (north to Santa Cruz) and northwestern Argentina (southward to Córdoba), also locally in southwestern Ecuador and northwestern Peru; nonbreeding migrant to the east slope of the Andes from southeastern Ecuador to Bolivia
