  resident in the southern Yucatan Peninsula (northern Guatemala and Belize)

• Stelgidopteryx serripennis fulvipennis

  breeds southern Mexico (except Yucatan Peninsula), northward to central Veracruz, and southward to central Costa Rica; mainly resident, but some migrate southward to central Panama

• Stelgidopteryx serripennis psammochroa

  breeds from southwestern USA (southern California eastward to southeastern Texas) and northern Baja California southward to southwestern Mexico and perhaps El Salvador; winters from southernmost USA southward to Panama, although southernmost breeding populations possibly resident

• Stelgidopteryx serripennis ridgwayi

  resident in the northern Yucatan Peninsula (southeastern Mexico in northern Campeche, Yucatán, and central Quintana Roo)

• Stelgidopteryx serripennis serripennis

  breeds from southeastern Alaska eastward to southern Quebec, southward to central California and Florida; winters from Mexico and Florida southward to central Panama

• Stelgidopteryx serripennis stuarti

  resident in southern Mexico (southern Veracruz, northern Oaxaca, and Chiapas), northern Guatemala, and northern Belize
