Introduction

A member of the family Pellorneidae, distinct from typical fulvettas in the genus Fulvetta. It inhabits evergreen montane forests above 1200 m ASL and is characterized by noisy vocalizations and foraging on vertical trunks.

Description

Measures 11 cm in length. Features a dark-streaked chestnut crown, white supercilium, brown upperparts, and pale underparts. The wings display a striking contrast between bright rufous primaries and black coverts.

Distribution & Habitat

Found in evergreen montane forests at elevations above 1200 m ASL.

Behavior & Ecology

A noisy species with a rich warbled song described as ti-du-di-du-di-du-di-du and a wheezy tsi-tsi-tsi-tsi call. Often feeds on vertical tree trunks.
