Introduction

A passerine bird in the genus Rhopophilus, family Paradoxornithidae. Genetic analysis indicates it is a close relative of the parrotbills. Previously classified in Cisticolidae, Timaliidae, or Sylviidae. Found in northern China and North Korea; formerly occurred in South Korea. First described by Robert Swinhoe in 1868.

Distribution & Habitat

Inhabits northern China and North Korea. Historically range extended into South Korea, where the species is now extirpated.
