Introduction
A species in the family Timaliidae found in Northeast India, Southeast Asia, and adjacent parts of southern China. It inhabits subtropical or tropical moist lowland and montane forests, particularly favoring bamboo clumps and Fokienia-dominated forest between 300-2400m. Distinctive traits include a long reddish-orange decurved bill and participation in mixed-species bird flocks.
Description
Possesses a long reddish-orange decurved bill, a rather long white supercilium, and brown upperparts and tail. Sexes are similar in appearance.
Distribution & Habitat
Found in Northeast India, Southeast Asia, and adjacent parts of southern China. Typically occurs between 300-2400m in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and subtropical or tropical moist montane forest, particularly favoring bamboo clumps and Fokienia-dominated forest.
Behavior & Ecology
Feeds mainly on invertebrates but is also known to take nectar from flowers. It is a frequent participant of mixed-species bird flocks, often associating with the White-hooded Babbler.
