Introduction

A weaver bird species found across South Asia and South-east Asia, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. Also introduced in Qatar and United Arab Emirates. Less common than the baya weaver but similar in appearance, distinguished by streaked underparts. Nests in small colonies in reed beds near water bodies.

Description

A small passerine weaver bird resembling the baya weaver in size and overall appearance. The distinguishing feature is the streaked plumage on the underparts.

Distribution & Habitat
