Introduction

Member of the family Columbidae found in temperate forests of southeastern Asia.

Distribution & Habitat

Range extends throughout Southeast Asia, including Nepal, Bhutan, northern India, southern Tibet, southern China, northern Laos, northern to mid Myanmar, northern Thailand, and Taiwan. The Taiwan population is estimated at 10,000 to 100,000 breeding pairs.

Behavior & Ecology

Clutches usually consist of a single white egg, though double egg clutches have been recorded. Incubation lasts approximately 21–23 days, and young fledge about 28 days after hatching.
