Distribution & Habitat

This species inhabits the Himalayan Plateau, where its natural habitat consists of boreal shrubland. The range is divided between two subspecies: C. r. rubicilloides occurs from eastern Tibet across central to southern China, while C. r. lucifer is found in southern Tibet and throughout the Himalayas.
