简介
啄木鸟科鸟类，广泛分布于热带和亚热带亚洲，主要集中在印度次大陆和东南亚。从印度、不丹、尼泊尔、孟加拉国及斯里兰卡向东延伸至泰国、缅甸、柬埔寨、老挝、印度尼西亚、马来西亚和越南。为丛林栖息物种。
形态特征
大型啄木鸟，体长27厘米。典型啄木鸟体型。上体绿色，具亮黄色簇状颈羽。颈部和胸部绿色，腹部灰白色，具绿色细横纹。臀部和尾羽黑褐色。
如何辨识
成年雄鸟头部绿色，喉部白色，眼上方和颈背具红色斑纹，具红色髭纹。雌鸟仅耳羽上方具红色斑块。幼鸟似雌鸟但羽色较暗。印度半岛亚种头部偏灰色。
分布与栖息地
分布于热带和亚热带亚洲，包括印度次大陆和东南亚各国。栖息于丛林环境。
习性与生态
丛林物种，在树洞中筑巢，每窝产2-4枚白色卵。具典型啄木鸟特征：直而尖的喙、坚硬尾羽支撑树干、趾间两前两后的对趾足。舌头细长，可伸缩捕食昆虫。
