Introduction

A bird species in the family Monarchidae. Native to China and Primorsky Krai in the Russian Far East. It is a winter migrant to Southeast Asia. Until 2015, it was considered a subspecies of the Asian paradise flycatcher.

Description

Adult males occur in two color morphs differing in the coloration of their upperparts. All adult males have black hoods, white underparts, small crests, and distinctive blue eye rings. During the breeding season, males develop exceptionally long tail streamers that can measure up to twice the length of the body.
