Introduction

A species of bird in the parrotbill family Paradoxornithidae. This small passerine measures 10 cm in length and is endemic to China, where it breeds in northwest Yunnan. Formerly considered conspecific with the brown-winged parrotbill (Suthora brunnea) and sometimes the vinous-throated parrotbill (Suthora webbiana), molecular studies have confirmed it as a distinct species. Its behavior parallels that of the vinous-throated parrotbill.
