Introduction

Spelaeornis reptatus is a bird species in the family Timaliidae. It was until recently considered a subspecies of the long-tailed wren-babbler and was recognized as a distinct species by the IUCN in 2008. It occurs in China (Yunnan), India (Arunachal Pradesh), Myanmar, and Thailand, where it inhabits subtropical moist montane forest. It is classified as Least Concern by the IUCN.

Distribution & Habitat

This species occurs in four countries across southeastern Asia: China (Yunnan province), India (Arunachal Pradesh state), Myanmar, and Thailand. It is restricted to subtropical moist montane forest habitats.

Conservation

Assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN in 2016. The species has a wide range across multiple countries and currently shows no significant population declines that would warrant a threatened category.
