Introduction

Bird species in the vireo family (Vireonidae). Found in Southeast Asia from the Himalayas to western Malaysia. Inhabits subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. Was traditionally considered an aberrant Old World babbler and placed in the family Timaliidae, though its habits were noted to resemble those of vireos, previously attributed to convergent evolution.

Distribution & Habitat

Range extends from the Himalayas through Southeast Asia to western Malaysia. Inhabits subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
