Introduction

Medium-sized passerine bird in the family Leiothrichidae. Native to South and Southeast Asia, with confirmed populations in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam. Inhabits subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. Underwent taxonomic revision in 2018 following molecular phylogenetic study, resulting in transfer from the genus Garrulax to the resurrected genus Pterorhinus.

Distribution & Habitat

Found across Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam. Occupies subtropical and tropical moist lowland forest habitats as well as subtropical and tropical moist montane forests throughout this range.
