Introduction

A passerine bird in the family Leiothrichidae. Inhabits grassy areas with bushes and trees, scrub, and forest in the Patkai mountain range. Formerly placed in the genus Garrulax, it was moved to the resurrected genus Pterorhinus following a molecular phylogenetic study in 2018. Until recently, it was considered conspecific with the blue-crowned laughingthrush, from which it differs in crown coloration.
