Striped Prinia
Prinia striata
山鹪莺
Introduction
A species of bird in the family Cisticolidae. Formerly considered conspecific with the Himalayan prinia (P. crinigera) under the name striated prinia, it was recognized as a separate species following a 2019 phylogenetic study. Occurs throughout mainland China and Taiwan. Inhabits Yunnan Province in China where it is sympatric with P. crinigera.
Distribution & Habitat
Mainland China and Taiwan, with three recognized subspecies. P. s. catharia ranges from northeast India through Myanmar to south-central China. P. s. parumstriata occurs throughout southeast and central China. P. s. striata is endemic to Taiwan.
