Introduction

Bird in the tit family Paridae. Endemic to central China, specifically Sichuan, south-eastern Qinghai, and north-western Yunnan provinces. Inhabits coniferous, mixed and mature deciduous forests, woodland edge, scrub, and urban parks and gardens at altitudes of 0–4,275 m (0–14,026 ft). Formerly treated as a subspecies of the willow tit (Poecile montanus), it was promoted to species status based on genetic analysis published in 2002. Monotypic with no recognized subspecies.

Distribution & Habitat

Found in Sichuan, south-eastern Qinghai, and north-western Yunnan provinces in central China. Inhabits various forest types including coniferous, mixed and mature deciduous forests, as well as woodland edge, scrub, and urban parks and gardens. Occurs at altitudes from sea level to 4,275 m (14,026 ft).
