Introduction

A species of bird in the woodpecker family Picidae. It occurs throughout Southeast Asia, including Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. A single specimen previously recorded from Bangladesh has since been reidentified as a streak-breasted woodpecker. It inhabits subtropical or tropical dry forest, moist lowland forest, mangrove forest, and moist montane forest.

Distribution & Habitat

Range extends across Southeast Asia from Myanmar and Thailand through Malaysia to Indonesia. Inhabits various forest types including dry forest, moist lowland forest, mangrove forest, and moist montane forest. Occurs in multiple countries including Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Singapore, and southern China.
