Introduction

Leaf warbler (family Phylloscopidae) formerly classified in the Old World warbler assemblage. Range encompasses the Indian subcontinent across Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Pakistan. A single vagrant record from Sigiriya, Sri Lanka in 1993. Inhabits subtropical and tropical moist lowland forests as well as subtropical and tropical moist montane forests. Previously placed in genus Seicercus, but molecular phylogenetic research in 2018 resulted in merger into Phylloscopus.

Distribution & Habitat

Resident breeding species across the Himalayan foothills and northeastern Indian subcontinent. Population occupies Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Pakistan. Habitats include subtropical and tropical moist lowland forests and moist montane forests. One extralimital record documented from Sigiriya, Sri Lanka in 1993.
