Introduction

This passerine bird's taxonomic classification remains uncertain, with sources placing it in the family Timaliidae (Old World babblers), the distinct family Paradoxornithidae, or alternatively within the Sylviidae. Its range extends across the Eastern Himalaya region through Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam. The species inhabits subtropical and tropical moist lowland forests as well as subtropical and tropical moist montane forests. Former taxonomic treatment considered this species conspecific with the rufous-headed parrotbill.

Distribution & Habitat

This species occurs in the Eastern Himalaya, Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam. Its habitat preferences include subtropical and tropical moist lowland forests as well as subtropical and tropical moist montane forests. No specific migration patterns were documented in available sources.
