Introduction
A monotypic genus in the Muscicapidae family, restricted to submountain forests from the eastern Himalayas and northern Myanmar through southern China, western and southern Thailand, the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Borneo. Inhabits subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. The sole member of genus Leucoptilar, a taxonomic placement determined by molecular phylogenetic studies.
Distribution & Habitat
Occupying submountain forests across an extensive range from the eastern Himalayas and northern Myanmar to southern China, western and southern Thailand, the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Borneo. Three recognized subspecies: L. c. cyaneum (northeast India to north Indochina and south Thailand), L. c. concretum (Malay Peninsula and Sumatra), and L. c. everetti (Borneo). Found in both subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
