Introduction

This is a bird species in the family Leiothrichidae. It is found in Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, and Nepal. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. The species was formerly placed in the genus Garrulax but was moved to the resurrected genus Ianthocincla following a molecular phylogenetic study published in 2018.

Distribution & Habitat

Found in Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, and Nepal. Inhabits subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. Recorded at approximately 2250 meters above sea level in mixed cold temperate Himalayan Forest, including locations such as Pangolakha Wildlife Sanctuary in East Sikkim and Sarmoli Village in Munsiari, Uttarakhand.
