Introduction
Songbird in the bulbul family Pycnonotidae. Found on the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Inhabits subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and subtropical or tropical moist montane forest. Formerly classified in the genera Hypsipetes and Microscelis. Five subspecies are currently recognized.
Distribution & Habitat
Found on the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Occurs in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. Five subspecies have distinct ranges: H. f. flavala in the eastern Himalayas, northeastern Bangladesh, northwestern Myanmar, and southern China; H. f. hildebrandi in eastern Myanmar and northwestern Thailand; H. f. davisoni in southeastern Myanmar and southwestern Thailand; H. f. bourdellei in southern China, eastern Thailand, northern and central Laos; and H. f. remotus in southern Indochina.
