Introduction

A species in the family Muscicapidae. It is native to the Himalayas and Patkai ranges, central and southern China, northern Indochina, and eastern Vietnam. Its natural habitat consists of subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, as well as temperate forest areas near boreal mountains. The species performs altitudinal migrations, spending winters in Thailand, northern Laos, and Vietnam. The most distinctive trait is the reddish-brown coloration with a distinctly colored patch on the throat.

Description

A small passerine with reddish-brown plumage throughout most of the body. The name refers to the distinctly colored patch on the throat, which serves as a key identifying feature.

Identification
