Distribution & Habitat
This species occurs across the high mountains of Central and South Asia, with populations in Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, India, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. Its preferred habitat is montane tundra, where it inhabits the high-altitude regions above the tree line. The species is adapted to the harsh conditions found at these elevations, typically occurring at altitudes where vegetation is sparse and the climate is cold year-round.
