Chinese Beautiful Rosefinch

Carpodacus davidianus

中华朱雀

IUCN: Not Evaluated Found in China

Introduction

A true finch species belonging to the family Fringillidae. One of the rosefinches that may belong in the genus Propasser. Found in China and Mongolia. Inhabits temperate shrubland and subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland. Previously considered conspecific with the Himalayan beautiful rosefinch and a subspecies of pink-rumped rosefinch under the name 'beautiful rosefinch' (C. pulcherrimus), but taxonomic revisions based on phylogenetic analysis of mitochondrial and nuclear genes resulted in species splits. Currently recognized as a monotypic species following these taxonomic changes.
