Distribution & Habitat
Endemic to western and north-central China, specifically occurring in the Lanzhou Basin and central Gansu Province in the subspecies A. m. lanzhouensis, and northward into northeastern Qinghai Province in the nominate subspecies A. m. magna.
Culture
The common name and Latin binomial commemorate the Russian explorer Nikolai Przhevalsky, who was a prominent figure in Central Asian exploration during the 19th century.
